The importance of milk for your child

When should milk offer a supporting role, and not take centre stage?

We know that milk is very beneficial to your child, as it is a great source of vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, which your child needs for strong bones and healthy teeth. You should continue to give your child milk until they are at least one year old, and then babies over twelve months should be offered around 300 ml of milk per day.

Once a child starts weaning, and moving to solid food, they will want less milk, especially when their intake of solid food increases to more than once a day. At this point, they may even stop drinking milk altogether. Once you have started weaning your baby, you shouldn’t give them too much milk.
