All of our rooms are fresh and stimulating. We passionately believe that day nurseries should feel like a ‘home from home’ for your little one. We think we have achieved this but you should really come and take a look for yourself. Why not call or email us or pop in for a visit?
Our nursery is split into five rooms which cater for the different age groups within the nursery.
LadyBugs
The Baby Room has two rooms, catering for 6 weeks to one year and one to two years.
We look after babies as young as six weeks into their first year. The time that they move into the next room is individualised and is usually around the time they become mobile.
Our Baby Room is homely with room for the babies to crawl and explore. It is a purpose built Baby Room and is light and airy with low windows for the children to look out. The room opens out into its own garden for the babies to enjoy.
Dragonflies
Busy Bees
In our toddler area we have three large, bright and airy rooms for our two to two and a half year olds.
We have a Creative Room for messy play and also for mealtimes, a Physical Room with a gym for general toddler exercise and a cosy, quiet area for looking at a book and taking a nap at sleep time.
Caterpillars
This room caters for children in the two and a half to three years age grouping.
We have two large, spacious room, including a creative area and an ICT area, which the children can access. In this room we prepare children for our pre-school room. Caterpillars share the garden with pre-school, making the transitions so much easier.
Caterpillars has been purposely designed by Community Playthings, a leading childrens’ educational furniture specialist.
Butterflies
It is in Butterfly Room that we prepare our three to four year old children for school. Your pre-schooler is encouraged to live their nursery life to the full; exploring, experimenting and learning through play.
Our qualified nursery and primary school teachers work alongside the practitioner team to ensure we nurture your child’s development in every possible way.
During the final stage of your child’s journey at Unicorn we are committed to helping them move confidently to school. However, that is not the whole picture. At Unicorn we are not just preparing your child for school – we are preparing them for life.
Library Area
We have our own library where children select a book each week to take home to share with their family.
We also use this area for small group teaching such as ‘Talk Boost’ which commenced in September this year to aid and encourage children’s language development.
The beauty of our nursery in Tipton is its open-plan feel. However, we have informally sub-divided our large space into three areas.
Ducklings
Caterpillars
This room caters for two to three year old children who have moved up from the Baby Room. It is our little ‘home from home’ for the toddlers. We have 16 places and work on a ratio of one adult practitioner to four children in this room.
The caterpillars have their own Creative Area, ICT and Home Corner, and share the garden.
Butterflies
This is our pre-school room for three to four year olds. Through carefully planned learning experiences and the provision of a stimulating environment, children are prepared for school.
With such an open-plan environment children gradually become aware of the other ‘rooms’ and so we rarely have transition problems which can cause difficulties elsewhere.
