Early Years Teachers in Nurseries

Early Years Teachers in Nurseries

You may have seen in the media recently a report from Save The Children entitled ‘Lighting up Young Brains.” Essentially, it highlighted the fact that early childcare is playing an increasingly significant role in children’s development.
At Unicorn, we have long had the benefit of having two very experienced and qualified teachers, who lead the education and planning in both of our nurseries. In the pre-school area, this is what makes Unicorn different from most other nurseries. More than anywhere else, we have a strong focus on education, which gives the children an advantage when they start school.. You will place your child with us and know that he or she will receive an education. It is this high quality early years experience that provides a firm foundation on which to build future academic, social and emotional success. More than any other nursery in the area, at Unicorn you know that your child is actively being prepared for school, and, as a result, will perform better when s/he transfers there.

Quoting from the report, “Last year, six children in every reception class in England struggled with their early language skills.” They also say, “One is five children cannot read well when they finish primary school… one in three of the poorest children.”
“To become good readers, children first need to become confident communicators, with clear speech… these vital language skills develop rapidly in the first few years of a child’s life.”

They conclude; “We’re calling on the government to ensure that there is an Early Years teacher in every nursery in England by 2020.”

Now, is that going to happen? But why should you wait anyway? Unicorn Nursery has two Early Years Teachers in place right now!
